about

With COVID-19 taking over the news, the world feels like a dark and scary place. The other day I noticed that among the trees that are still bare, others are budding bright green leaves. There is new grass on the ground. And yes, my neighbor's flowers are blooming.

lyrics

Well it seems like the sky's finally falling
And it feels like the world just might end
I never thought I would see this
Don't know if I'll ever see it again

Moment to moment, a storm reaches shore
Changing its colors and shifting its form
A sinister thundercloud looming
And my neighbor's flowers are blooming

It's easy to focus on darkness
When the light seems too bright to be true
And it's easier to slip into madness
Than to feel what the world's going through

Minutes to hours, I can't count the days
Everything changes except for the rain
The bitter wind tearing right through me
And my neighbor's flowers are blooming

And even in shadows there's holiness
And even in fire there's hope
And even in times when there's loneliness
We learn we can face things alone

Second by second, we wait on the news
Torn between promise and what we may lose
When everything feels dark and gloomy
My neighbor's flowers are blooming
